Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – On August 20, 2024, the King Salman International Airport Development Company (KSIADC), a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), announced the signing of key contracts with four prominent firms for the development of the new King Salman International Airport.
The strategic partners include a blend of local and international firms. Renowned architect firm Foster+Partners has been selected to design the airport’s master plan. Engineering advice will be provided by Jacobs, while Mace will handle the construction aspects. The Saudi firm Nera will oversee the design of operational and airspace management.
The new airport will replace the existing King Khalid International Airport (RUH), located on the same site but expanded to cover 57 square kilometers. The redevelopment will feature six runways and new terminals, significantly enhancing the airport's capacity and capabilities.
This ambitious project is a key component of Saudi Arabia’s 'Vision 2030' program, which aims to invest up to $100 billion in the country’s transportation infrastructure, marking a significant step towards modernizing and expanding Saudi Arabia’s transportation network.
