Amnesty International has condemned Israel's treatment of Palestinian detainees at the Sde Teiman military camp as "war crimes," following recent research revealing severe abuses. Sara Hashash, the organization's deputy regional director for the Middle East and North Africa, described the conditions at Sde Teiman and other Israeli detention facilities as involving "harrowing torture and ill-treatment."

According to Amnesty International, the report includes testimonies from 27 former detainees—20 men, six women, and one child—who were held from two weeks to 140 days. These individuals, all civilians arrested from the Gaza Strip, reported being subjected to torture and other forms of cruel treatment during their detention.

Hashash highlighted that detainees were often blindfolded and handcuffed, forced into stressful positions, and prevented from communicating. These findings are consistent with reports from other human rights organizations and UN bodies.

The report also detailed allegations of gang-rape of a detainee at Sde Teiman, adding to the evidence of systematic abuse. Amnesty International has called for an independent investigation by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to address these allegations and ensure justice.

The Israeli military court recently extended the detention of five soldiers accused of sexually assaulting a Palestinian detainee, with ten soldiers initially detained but later released. Reports indicate that torture at Sde Teiman has resulted in multiple deaths among detainees.

Israel's ongoing military offensive in Gaza, which has led to significant casualties and widespread destruction, has drawn international condemnation. The UN Security Council has called for an immediate cease-fire, and Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice. The situation in Gaza remains dire, with severe shortages of food, water, and medicine amidst continued hostilities
